Surkhandarya region’s economy grows by 9.8% in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of the gross regional product (GRP) of Surkhandarya region made up 2.687 trillion soums in the first half of 2015, which grew by 9.8% year-on-year.
The industrial output in the reporting period rose by 10.3%, construction works – 11.2%, agriculture products – 20.5%, trade and catering services – 12.3%. The region launched 102 industrial enterprises and launched production of 37 new products.
In January-June 2015, the region implemented 857 projects for 142.3 billion soums and US$250,000 within the territorial programme for social-economic development. About 6,000 new jobs were created.
About 746 new small businesses were registered in Surkhandarya region in the first half of 2015 and their total number reached 10,757 units. The private sector produced industrial goods for 766.3 billion soums, conducted construction works – 671.6 billion soums and paid services – 506.4 billion soums.
The small and private businesses received loans for 300 billion soums in the first half of 2015. Share of small businesses in the gross regional product of the region made up 62.5% and in service sector – 53.6%.
Within the employment programme, 28,145 new jobs were created in the region, of which 22,000 jobs fell to share of small and private businesses.
