Uzbek delegation holds talks with EC Vice-President

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič in Brussels on 18 May 2015.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said that the sides considered course of implementation of memorandum of understanding between Uzbekistan and EU on cooperation in energy spheres, signed within the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Brussels in January 2011.
It was noted that the document gave a new stimulus to cooperation in this directions. Currently, several European companies are conducting investment projects in Uzbekistan and participate in tender procedures on construction, reconstruction and modernization of energy system.
The European side was informed about a state programme on ensuring structural reforms in energy industry, modernization and diversification for 2015-2019, which was adopted in Uzbekistan. The programme envisages to implement 870 projects for US$38 billion.
The sides exchanged opinion on some regional problems.
