JOGMEC explores rare metals in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) in cooperation with the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan is conducting exploration works at Chatkal-Kurama rare-earth zone in Uzbekistan for rare metals, head of the department on introduction of modern technologies for exploration and attraction of foreign investments of State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan Azam Kadirhodjaev said.
He said that the works are conducted with the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan. He noted that these are preliminary works and conducted without license agreement.
The sides are searching rare and rare-earth metals () in line with the agreement between the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan and JOGMEC, signed in 2013.
Uzbek official recalled that JOGMEC is carrying out geological exploration works at two persective uranium fields in Navoi region.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan plans to attract JOGMEC to project on production of synthetic fuel on GTP technology in Kashkadarya region.
