UzLiDeP discusses sowing on untraditional plants

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ferghana regional Council of Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) held a seminar on sowing of unconventional crops in Uzbekistan.
Representatives of regional Farmers Council, department of agriculture and water management, Mahalla Foundation, farmers and dehkans, as well as others participated in the event.
Uzbekistan gradually increases production of grain, vegetables, potatoes and melons, decreasing fields allocated to cotton production.
According to Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), currently 86 countries of the world cannot provide food to population. Some countries satisfy internal demand for grain products only by 50-55%. Currently, Uzbekistan fully satisfied internal demand for grain and started to export it.
At the seminar, the participants discussed issues on increasing production of food goods twice and increase exports. They also discussed trickle irrigation and organization of pistachio plantations, intensive gardens.
The party supports measures on increasing production of fruit and vegetable, grapes and cattle, which will ensure food safety of Uzbekistan.
The meeting also studied experience of some farmers on introduction of unconventional crops, which are popular worldwide, but not in Uzbekistan.
