Delegation of Uzbekistan visits Bashkortostan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan and Minister of Economic Development of Bashkortostan Yevgeniy Mavrin held a meeting with the delegation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia. The delegation was led by Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Russia Ravshanbek Alimov.
During the meeting the Russian official briefed the Uzbek side on current state of economy of the region and the sides discussed cooperation between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan, according to the press service of Ministry of Economic Development of Bashkortostan.
Yevgeniy Mavrin said the sides achieved good level of cooperation and another step in development of cooperation with Uzbekistan will be updating of agreements, which were signed in 1998.
Ravshanbek Alimov expressed gratitude to Yevgeniy Mavrin for the meeting and said that Bashkortostan is part of the priority regions for cooperation.
At the meeting, the sides agreed to carry out visits, shared information on possible participation of businesses at various events, fairs and exhibitions in Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan.
The delegation also held talks with heads of other state bodies of Bashkortostan. It is planned to hold presentation of Uzbekistan for enterprises and organizations of the Russian region.
Trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan made up US$258.9 million in 2013, of which exports were US$191.5 million and imports – US$67.4 million.
Bashkortostan exports to Uzbekistan mineral products (64.5%), ferrous metals and products from them (13.4%), chemical products (9.7%), machinery products and equipments (4.7%), etc. Uzbekistan exports to Bashkortostan vehicles and their parts (86.1%), zinc and products from them (7.3%), textile, textile products and footwear (5.6%) and others.
In the first quarter of 2014, trade turnover between Russian region and Uzbekistan made up US$30.2 million, of which exports were US$14 million and imports – US$16.2 million.
As of the beginning of 2014, there are 89 enterprises in Bashkortostan, which were created with the capital from Uzbekistan and one office of the Russian company.
