Chinese companies to invest US$50m into SIZ Jizzakh in 2014
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 15 projects with attraction of foreign direct investments for US$50 million will be implemented in special industrial zone Jizzakh, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on creation new special industrial zone Jizzakh on 28 March 2013, which will be located in Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan.

According to the document, new zone is created in line with the memorandum of understanding on implementation of the project on creation of the Uzbek-Chinese industrial park in Uzbekistan. The goal of the zone is to create conditions for attracting foreign and local investments and help to develop high technological production capacities.

SIZ Jizzakh will operate within 30 years and the term can be prolonged. Special tax regime will be in force in the zone and customs preferences will be intact.

SIZ Jizzakh is the third special economic zone in Uzbekistan. Special industrial-economic zone Navoi was created in 2008 and special industrial zone was formed in 2012.

It is worth to mention that there are 466 enterprises with participation of Chinese companies in Uzbekistan, of which 77 are enterprises with 100% Chinese investments. About 71 Chinese companies accredited their offices in Uzbekistan.

According to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China rose six times and reached to US$5.2 billion in 2013.
