Russian firm to construct cement plant in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s “Company of oil and gas” will complete construction of cement plant in Surkhandarya region by the end of 2016, RIA Novosti reported quoting source in Uzstroymaterialy.
The Russian company created a subsidiary Surkhandinvestcement to construct the cement plant with the cost of US$46.7 million. Preliminary, the plant should be commissioned in 2013.
The representative of Uzstroymaterialy said that investor decided to optimize technology and increase preliminary designed capacity by 60,000 tonnes, which will require additional time.
The designed capacity of the plant will make up 420,000 tonnes of cement a year. The plant will use technology of pit-type heating furnace. About 60% of products will be invested to neighboring states. In 2011, the Russian company signed an investment agreement with Mack management service (registered in Sri Lanka) with the volume of US$46.7 million.
Uzbekistan currently has six cement plants with installed capacity of about 8 million tones. Uzbekistan increased cement production by 3.1% year-on-year to 6.99 million tonnes in 2013.
