Days of European Education to be held in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education will hold several events on 11-15 November within the Days of the European Education in Uzbekistan directed at presenting and promoting educational and academic programmes, financed by the European Union.
Within the Days, it is planned to hold an educational exhibition “Education in European Union, presentation of stipend programme Erasmus Mundus at the universities of Uzbekistan, roundtable for graduates of the programme, meetings with coordinators of TEMPUS and Erasmus Mundus programmes, etc.
The main event - educational exhibition – will be held at Tashkent architecture and construction institute on 11 and 12 November 2013.
The events, organized within the Day of European Education, are directed at familiarizing students and teachers of the universities, as well as public with education in the European Union, stipend programmes, etc.
The events will also familiarize the public with education opportunities and national stipends in Great Britain, Germany, France, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia, information on cooperation with higher educational establishments of Uzbekistan and the EU, etc.
Ambassador Yuri Sterk, a head of the office of the European Union in Uzbekistan, said intensive cooperation among higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Europe has been carried out within the Tempus programme for last 19 years, which laid foundation to stipend programme Erasmus Mundus.
He said that over 55 higher educational establishments are participating in long-term inter-university projects, which help to develop relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
Yuri Sterk underlined that the European Commission adopted decision to allocate additional 5 million euros to Tempus programme and 3 million euros to Erasmus Mundus programme.
Cooperation with the Universities received additional stimulus thanks to 11 new projects within the Tempus for 37 universities of Uzbekistan and five new partnships within Erasmus Mundus with participation of 16 universities, he said. The envoy noted that this also contributes to modernization of higher education in Uzbekistan.
