Uzbekistan increase coal mining up to 2.067m tonnes in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increase coal mining by 1.55 times in the first half of 2013 to 2.067 million tonnes, Noviy Vek edition reported quoting data of the State Statistics Committee of the country.
Uzbekistan produced 2.052 million tonnes of brown coal (up 26.5%) and 14,600 tonnes of coal (down 6.3%) in the reporting period.
Currently, Uzbekugol produced 98% of coal in Uzbekistan. It mines coal at Angren brown coal mine in Tashkent region with explored coal reserves of 1.9 billion tonnes.
Shargunugol hold licenses to develop Baisun and Shargun coal mines in Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan with total explored reserves of 45.8 million tonnes of coal.
Uzbekistan’s need in coal currently makes up about 4 million tonnes a year. Main consumers of coal in Uzbekistan are Uzbekenergo, which use 3 million tonnes of coal a year.
