Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to commission 30 new enterprises of light industry with the cost of over US$200 million in 2013, the first deputy chairperson of Uzbekyengilsanoat joint stock company (Uzbek Light Industry) Maqsudjon Mansurov said.
He said that investment programme for 2013 envisages implementation of 16 investment projects with forecasted volume of investments for US$147.6 million. In the first quarter of 2013, the industry used investments for US$26 million, which exceeds forecast by 47.5%.
At the same time, he said that it is planned to complete implementation of 30 investment projects for over US$200 million in 2013, which will help to create 5,500 new jobs. In the first quarter of 2013, eight projects worth US$16 million were launched, which helped to create 1,300 new jobs.
Uzbekyengilsanoat enterprises produced industrial goods for 1.735 trillion soums in 2012, which rose by 20% year-on-year.
Enterprises of Uzbekyengilsanoat produced consumer goods worth 607.2 billion soums in 2012 (+45.2%). They produced over 100 new products and over 160 assortments of light industry goods.
The industry exported products to 49 countries worth US$705.3 million. Uzbekistan expands exports geography each year. Uzbekistan reached agreement to export of products to Brazil, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Peru, Chile, Columbia, France and others.
Uzbekyengilsanoat participated at various international fairs in Russia, Baltic states, Turkey, Malaysia, etc. The company also opened 55 dealer offices in European Union, CIS and Asian states.
About 35% of total exports fell to share of ready products, which rose by 25% year-on-year. Part of semi-ready products was realized in internal market, which allowed to increase ready goods twice and hosiery products – 1.2 times.
The company said that 101 enterprises were launched in 2009-2011 with attraction of investments for US$506.2 million. According to the development programme for 2013-2016, the industry plans to implement 1,629 projects worth US$1.286 billion. In the result, the industry will create 63,194 new jobs.
It is also planned to organize sewing shops in all cities and districts of Uzbekistan with the capacity of over 200 sewing equipment. Implementation of the programme will allow to launch some 41,935 sewing machines with the capacity of 241.9 million sewing products for 564.2 billion soums.
It is planned to use US$90.8 million, of which US$35.1 million of own resources of the initiators, US$5.7 million of foreign investments and US$50.1 million of commercial banks’ loans.
