Uzbek delegation attends tourism seminar in Turkey

A delegation of Uzbekistan participated a seminar “Tourism at world heritage sites: challenges and opportunities” in Izmir, Turkey, on 26 March 2013.
The seminar was attended by member states of the UN World Tourism Organization, including Uzbekistan. At the seminar, the participants studied and discussed issues on management of heritage objects.
Uzbekistan has several sites, which included into world heritage list. Overall, there are 721 monuments in world heritage list of UNESCO. All sites are under protection and receive assistance in restoration and preservation of sights.
The event was aimed at demonstrating rich heritage and culture, nature and history of regions through topical researches, recommendations and successful experience, etc.
The 55th session of regional commission of UNWTO for Europe was held on 27 March 2013. The UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai presented a report on international tourism perspectives for 2013 and 2014, administrative and financial issues, etc.
The participants considered issues related to internal tourism, UNWTO efforts on simplifying tourism. They also determined next venue for the 60th session of the commission.
