Contest in tourism sector launched in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- UNDP projects “Support in enhancing of Local Governance System and Participatory Governance in Uzbekistan” and “Social innovations and partnership” in cooperation with Bureau of international and youth tourism and cooperation “Kelajak Tour” announced a contest in sphere of development regional tourism “Promote your city, district or region in social networks”.

The competition is aimed at raising recognizability of regions of Uzbekistan among local and foreign tourists through active promoting cultural values and sights of cities, districts and regions in social networks.

The participants should provide their view in mini-project with concrete actions in promotion of tourism in cities, districts or regions in social networks. The works should cover tourism opportunities of their cities, districts or regions, original tourism logotype and motto of their cities, districts and regions. The mini-project should also include goal, strategy and plan on promotion of tourism opportunities in cities, districts and regions in social networks.

The project should not exceed 1,500 words and should be in Russian and/or Uzbek. The project should be short and clear.

The contest is open for residents of Uzbekistan at the age up to 35 from all regions and cities of Uzbekistan, tourism potential of which are not disclosed fully. The participation of females in the contest is welcomed. Each person can submit one application.

Special commission will select the best projects based on national priorities on development tourism, opportunities of regions on implementation of proposed ideas, creativity of approach, etc.

Each winner will be awarded with laptop and camera, as well as provided with free internet for six months. Internet will be used to promote tourism opportunities of the city, district or region.

The winners will be invited to Tashkent to special two or three day training with tourism professionals. UNDP will cover all expenses related with participation at the training. Applications should be submitted till 10 December 2012.
