Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzavtosanoat joint stock company and Daimler AG (Germany) refused from a project on creation of plant on assembling passenger buses in Tashkent, RIA Novosti reported quoting government source.
The agency said that they refused from the project after re-calculation of technical and financial parameters of the project.
Uzavtosanoat started to dismantle built infrastructure of objects of the plant at Tashkent Aircraft Construction Plant named after Chkalov, the agency said.
Mercedes-Benz Central Asia JV was founded in May 2010. The Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Buses Central Asia GmbH owned a majority stake (51 percent) in the joint venture. The remaining 49 percent of the firm was owned by the automotive holding company Uzavtosanoat. The company had US$8 million of equity capital.
In line with the project, Uzavtosanoat will provide the factory buildings. Daimler Buses will deliver the Mercedes-Benz chassis, while the bodies will be built in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz’ long-standing body-building partner, Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles (MCV). It is expected that the plant’s capacities would be 600 buses a year.
