Remittances paid in hard currency – Central Bank of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Bank of Uzbekistan denied recent reports that the banks will issue remittances in national currency – soums.
The bank said mass media, especially internet outlets, are making unfounded reports on upcoming changes of currency regulation and remittance rules.
Central Bank of Uzbekistan said in its statement that citizens of Uzbekistan independently manage their money resources at the bank account.
Individuals has right to have own hard currency, imported, transferred or send to Uzbekistan, received or purchased in Uzbekistan, use hard currency independently, the statement said.
The statement said that currently and in future, money transfer operations in Uzbekistan will be conducted in remittance currency in line with legislation and international rules, the regulator said.
