Lukoil starts to drill third well in Karakalpakstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Lukoil-Overseas started to drill third exploration well with project depth of 3,100 m at Shege structure of Kungrad block in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.

The drilling is conducted to explore Middle Jurassic deposits, commercialization of reserves and attracting them to development, search hydrocarbons. Earlier, two exploration wells were drilled and hydrocarbon fields were discovered. After that the company conducted seismic exploration works, which helped to clarify area texture and worked out in detail Shege field.

In the result of the seismic, the field reserves were recalculated. The growth of C3 reserves made up 5.4 million tonnes of conditional fuel.

The company said it also reveled two layers of Lower Jurassic deposits. Calculations showed that Shege field can be developed.

Based on this, the decision was adopted to continue work at Kungrad block with extension of license term and possibility of field development.

Kungrad block has perspectives for further exploration if the commercial oil-and-gas content at Lower Jurassic deposits.
