UN registers eighth CDM project of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) registered another project of Uzbekistan within the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) on 27 November 2010.
The DNA said that the UNFCC registered project “Reduction of natural gas leakage at distribution networks of low and medium pressure in Samarkand, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions”.
The DNA underlined that planed reduction of emission within the project will make up over 1 million of CO2-equivallent a year.
According to the UNFCCC, it is expected that similar project of Uztransgaz joint stock company for Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan could be registered on 28 December 2010.
Currently, the UNFCC registered the eighth CDM project of Uzbekistan with total planned emission reductions of 2,126 million tonnes of CO2-equivallent a year.
