Uzbekistan to direct US$87m to improvement of land-improvement in 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to utilize 130 billion soums (US$87 million) to land-improvement in 2009, or 33.4 billion soums (US$22.4m) more compared to 2008. Currently, measures on land-improvement in all objects are carried out at intensive pace.
The country used 14.7 billion soums (US$9.8m) for land-improvement in the first half of 2009.
Uzbekistan directed 22 billion soums (US$14.7m) to purchase equipment in the first half of 2009. The country got 100 excavators from China, 30 bulldozers from Russia, 26 wheeled tractors, 26 prime movers from USA and others.
According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, about 61.1 billion soums (US$40.9m) were directed to reconstruction of land-improvement and irrigation objects.
