US$120m-project to link Uzbekistan and Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Work on construction of the first railroad of Afghanistan will be started in next four months, Rah-e-Nejat (Afghanistan) newspaper reported.
The project with the cost of US$120 million will connect Uzbekistan with the Mazari-Sharif, northern Afghanistan.
The paper said 60-km railway can be started in December 2009 and it will link up Hayraton and Uzbekistan.
It is expected that technical team from Uzbekistan will visit Afghanistan within the project, which is financed due to the Asian Development Bank.
