Uzbek police seize large batch of Russia-bound drugs at airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Uzbek law-enforcement agencies have prevented an attempt to smuggle a large batch of drugs to Russia.
Two drug dealers, who turned out to be relatives, were detained during a customs check at Samarqand international airport.
Two natives of Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region were planning to get on a flight from Samarqand to Moscow and deliver a large batch of drugs to customers there [in Russia]. Ten kilos of hashish thoroughly hidden in a bag and 400 grammes of heroin were seized from them.
He also said that the detainees confessed to bringing the drugs into Uzbekistan from Tajikistan through bypasses.
A criminal case has been launched, an investigation is under way.
