Fuel industry produces 20.1% of industrial production in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Fuel industry produced 20.1% of total industrial output in 2008. Industrial output of Uzbekistan grew by 12.7% year-on-year to 23.679 trillion soums in 2008, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
Fuel industry was followed by machine-building and metal-working (16.2%), light industry (12.9%), non-ferrous metallurgy (12.6%), and food industry (10.6%).
Uzbekistan produced consumer goods for 7.436 trillion soums, which is up 17.7% year-on-year. Out of them, the country produced food products worth 3.02 trillion soums (up 19.3% year-on-year).
The committee said non-food products for 4.416 trillion soums were produced in the reporting period, which is up 16.6%.
