The Ministry of Finance presents the “Budget for Citizens”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 December 2018, the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan presented to the public the information publication “Budget for Citizens” on the draft State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019.
The Citizens’ Budget was prepared as part of a joint project with UNDP “Promoting Public Finance Management Reform in Uzbekistan” and with financial support from the British Embassy in Tashkent.
The publication is important for ensuring the openness and transparency of the budget process, as well as improving the budget literacy of the population in accordance with the recommendations of international financial institutions.
The budget for citizens is a summary of the State budget, presented in a format that is easy to understand by a wide audience (for all citizens).
It should be noted that during the development of the Citizens Budget, as few economic terms were used as possible, and the information was supported by infographics, analytical materials and examples. The purpose of this approach is the need to convey to citizens as much as possible useful information about the State budget. Publication of the Citizens Budget is a widespread practice in other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Russia, Norway, Brazil, Mexico, etc.
The next edition of the Citizens Budget is devoted to the description of the main parameters of the State Budget for 2019 and the forecast targets for 2020–2021, contains information of interest to citizens, such as the size of tax rates and their types that go to the State Budget, as well as the main uses these funds.
Currently, the Ministry of Finance is developing the Open Budget information portal, which will be launched on 1 January 2019. Citizens will be able to receive information about the State Budget.
