Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s light industry has centuries-old traditions in the processing of cotton fiber - the country’s national wealth.
Currently, the share of the textile industry in the country’s GDP is about 4%. It employs about 125,000 people. Jobs are created through the opening of new and expansion of existing industries, the number of which today is 7,000.
In order to modernize and improve the production cycle, more than 2.0 million spinning spindles, 150 thousand chambers and other equipment from leading world manufacturers were commissioned: Tryuchler, Schlafhorst, Tsinzer (Germany); Rieter (Switzerland); “Toyota”, “Murata” (Japan), “Savio”, “Orizio”, “Marzoli” (Italy), and others.
Due to this, in the first 9 months of 2018, the enterprises, which are part of the Association “Uztextileprom” produced goods for 9.4 trillion soums, by the end of the year, it is planned to increase this figure to 12.3 trillion soums.
The Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to accelerate the development of the textile and garment and knitwear industry” dated December 14, 2017 opened wide opportunities for manufacturers. In accordance with it, the volume and quality of textile products is increased, and its range is expanding. And most importantly - the best design developments are introduced into the production process based on trends, trends and trends of modern fashion.
For example, Bulteks Eurostar works together with Bulgarian designers of Kokket and manufactures products under the brand Cherubino, Enterprise named after March 8 closely cooperates with Italian designers, Dong San LLC - with the Designers Association of South Korea, Evrotex Global LLC - German, Lukbo Tektil - Turkish, Fresh Style - Russian designers. Along with this, the developments of domestic designers of the Design Center “Shark Liboslari” are widely used as well.
Modern, and most importantly, high-quality products of domestic producers find their customers both in domestic and foreign markets. The increase in demand for textiles from Uzbekistan is facilitated by the participation of our enterprises at various international trade fairs. Recently, they presented their products in China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Latvia, Korea, Turkey, Germany and signed memorandums with potential buyers for a total amount of over US$452.2 million.
Based on this, it is safe to say that at present there is a large export potential in the textile industry. If earlier, domestic producers were mainly focused on the domestic market, now their focus is on entering foreign countries, where they show great interest in Uzbek textiles. And this in turn affects the increase in the number of exporting enterprises, of which there are 730 today. Products with the “Made in Uzbekistan” brand are supplied to more than 50 countries, including the EU, CIS and Latin America, the Republic of Korea, China , Singapore, Iran, Israel, USA and others.
Over 40 trading houses and 50 dealer departments of large enterprises - exporters in the EU, the CIS and Asia provide enormous support in promoting domestic products to foreign markets. In the near future, due to the opening of new trade textile houses in a number of countries, it is planned to increase export deliveries by several times.
In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 7, 2017, in cooperation with the Korean textile institute KAITEK, the creation of the Uzbek-Korean textile Technopark is underway.
