Russia to support the training of personnel for nuclear power industry of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Development of Atomic Energy under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Uzatom”) signed a memorandum on cooperation in education and training in the field of nuclear energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, the parties plan to cooperate in the field of education and training of operational personnel for the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, as well as education and training of personnel in the nuclear energy industry in general and related fields.
It is also planned to organize joint educational programs, including double-degree programs, in relation to the needs of the nuclear power industry and related fields, including nuclear science and technology.
The parties’ plans include training teachers of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of conducting training courses in Uzbek universities, educational organizations, as well as at other enterprises and organizations.
The memorandum envisages other areas of cooperation, including development of educational and scientific literature in the field of nuclear energy, organization of short-term internships, summer schools, seminars, competitions in physics, chemistry, mathematics among students and schoolchildren of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is planned to hold conferences and seminars to discuss issues of training specialists in the nuclear industry, including with the participation of international experts.
The parties also intend to contribute to the implementation of higher education programs for Uzbek candidates in Russian universities.
In addition, the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and the Agency Uzatom signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the formation of positive public opinion regarding nuclear energy in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the document, bilateral cooperation will be aimed at informing the population of Uzbekistan about modern nuclear energy technologies, as well as the benefits from the implementation of such projects, especially for the population in the regions where nuclear power facilities are located.
It is envisaged to train representatives of the republic’s media to increase their understanding of the nuclear energy industry and aspects of nuclear technology; organization and holding of international conferences and exhibitions in the field of nuclear energy technologies and a number of other areas.
Also in the plans is the creation of an Atomic Energy Information Center in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, which will be available to the general public and to those who wish to become familiar with nuclear technologies.
