Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan plans to introduce a base rate of consumption of electricity and gas for the population as an experiment from 1 January 2019.
The draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan “On changes in prices and tariffs for fuel and energy resources” has been published for discussion.
According to the document, the experiment will be conducted in Yunusabad district of Tashkent city.
The draft resolution stated that during the experiment the basic rate of consumption of electricity for the population will be 300 kWh per month per subscriber and natural gas – 1,000 cubic meters per month per subscriber, located in a private house during the heating season, or 250 cubic meters per month per subscriber, in other cases.
The population will pay for electricity and natural gas on regular rates if they consume electricity and has within set basic rate. If the consumption exceeds the basic rate, the population will pay at higher prices – 1.2 times from regular tariffs.
The experiment will last until 1 July 2019, the document said. After that, the actual application of basic consumption standards and concrete proposals for the further application of basic consumption standards will be developed.
