“Power Machines” to reconstruct Syrdarya TPP in 2018-2021

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russian company “Power Machines Group” will reconstruct Syrdarya thermal power plant (TPP) in 2018-2021.
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On approval of a feasibility study of investment project “Phased modernization of power units at the Syrdarya TPP”.
Within the project, six power units of the station will be upgraded. The work will be carried out in three stages. The capacities of these stations will increase from 1,800 to 1,950 MW. The cost of the contract on a turnkey basis is US$177.1 million.
At the same time, total cost of the project is US$187.3 million. Vneshekonombank (Russia) will provide a loan in the amount of US$132 million. The rest of the project will be financed from the funds of the Uzbek side.
The Syrdarya thermal power plant was commissioned in 1981 with an installed capacity of 3,200 MW. The annual output of electricity to the united energy system of Uzbekistan is 13 billion kWh, or 32% of the total electricity produced in Uzbekistan.
