Uzbekistan and India to cooperate in ICT field

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the framework of the recent state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Republic of India, the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications signed a number of agreements with Indian partners in the field of ICT.

In particular, a number of agreements was signed in such areas as: development of technology parks, training in the field of ICT, development of e-government, as well as space research for peaceful purposes and others.

Considering the vast experience of India in development of technology parks, our country is interested in cooperation with leading technology parks in India, including the Society of Software Technology Parks of India-STPI to create and develop modern platforms for developing software products and tools.

Indian partners were invited to consider the possibility of creating a Technopark of software and innovative products in Uzbekistan based on the Indian experience with the STPI Society of Software Technology Parks of India.

Special attention is paid to establishing cooperation with India in the field of ICT education. So during the visit several documents were signed at once:

- memorandum of understanding between the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al- Kharazmi and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD).

The memorandum is aimed at academic exchange between universities (the exchange of students, teachers, researchers), advanced training of the faculty of TUIT, conducting joint research, etc.

- memorandum of understanding between Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al- Kharazmi and Delhi Technological University (DTU).

- The agreement between Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al- Kharazmi and the Center for Development of Advanced Computer Technologies of India (CDAC) on further improvement of the Uzbek-Indian Center for Information Technologies named after Jawaharlal Nehru at TUIT.

According to the results of bilateral meetings with the leadership of leading universities in India, an agreement was reached on jointly working out the issue of opening a branch in Tashkent of the leading higher educational institution in India, Amity.

On the eve of the visit, negotiations were held with the private University of Amity, which resulted in the signing of an agreement on the start of joint work on the opening of a university branch in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan is interested in cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of e-government development. During the visit, agreements were reached between the Center for Development of Electronic Government of Uzbekistan and the National Center for Informatics of India on joint activities in this direction.

The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the E-Government Development Center and the National Informatics Center NIC on cooperation in the field of e-government.

 

Starting from this year, the development of space technologies and the use of space for peaceful purposes is a new area of activity of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications.

During the visit, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of India on cooperation in exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes.

In accordance with the agreement, the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications and the Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO, will work together in this area.

To further ensure the successful and productive implementation of all bilateral agreements reached, road maps have been developed.
