Uzbekistan, India to create Business Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Confederation of Indian Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on establishment of joint business council.
The document was signed within the Indian-Uzbek business forum, which was held in Delhi on 28 September.
Farhod Arziyev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to India, noted a joint Uzbek-Indian Business Council was created and it will lay the foundation for creating favorable conditions between the business circles of the two countries.
“It is planned to carry out mutual reduction of customs tariffs and implement large-scale projects in free economic zones. We are also interested in expanding mutual cooperation in the field of innovation, investment, education, culture, art and many other areas,” he said.
The Business Council India-Uzbekistan will become a platform for discussion and implementation of potential investment projects in various fields, will promote the trade turnover between the two countries, the development of transport communication and the expansion of transit corridors between Uzbekistan and India.
The Business Council will include entrepreneurs, representatives of private business and chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries.
As the parties note, the Council should help to identify the emerging barriers to trade and economic cooperation, and to submit proposals on their elimination within the framework of its powers.
The creation of the Business Council will allow to direct efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in promising areas, expanding the range of issues included in the agenda of discussions at the meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission India-Uzbekistan.
