Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18-20 September, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Ashgabat organized a visit of business circles of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said.
Within the framework of the visit, meetings were organized for members of the Uzbek delegation with representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan interested in cooperation with companies engaged in the production of construction products, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture and other industries.
During the meetings between the ministries and departments and business circles of the two countries in the format "B2G" the prospects of further development of the Uzbek-Turkmen trade and economic cooperation were discussed, including an exchange of views on the activation of partnership relations between the enterprises of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
At the same time, the sphere of trade, the organization of joint ventures for the production of building materials and electrical products, agricultural products and textile products were noted as promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
As a result of 2017, trade between the countries made up US$177.3 million (exports – US$69.6 million, imports – US$107.7 million). In the first quarter of 2018, the trade turnover between our countries increased by 55%.
In Uzbekistan, 11 enterprises operate with the participation of Turkmen capital, 2 enterprises with Uzbek capital have been established on the territory of Turkmenistan to organize the export of industrial products to the Turkmen market.
Currently, Uzbekistan is supplying vehicles, mineral fertilizers, agricultural products, construction materials, electrical and mechanical equipment, metal products and services in various fields to Turkmenistan and imports oil products, propylene polymers and other chemical products from Turkmenistan.
Taking into account the importance of further assistance to enterprises in establishing partnerships and informing them about the opportunities of our countries’ markets, an Agreement on the establishment of the Uzbek-Turkmen Business Council between the CCIs of the two countries was signed.
Along with this, the delegation of business circles of Uzbekistan visited an exhibition of economic achievements of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the Independence Day of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen companies involved in the field of energy and industry, oil and gas, petrochemistry, construction and construction materials, transport and communications, textile production and carpet weaving, chemical industry, agriculture and water resources, agro-industrial complex, medical industry, education, tourism, food production, etc.
During the exhibition, direct negotiations were organized between the enterprises of the two countries in the "B2B" format. The possibility of export of Uzbek products to the Turkmen market was discussed.
