Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, two billion people of the planet (26 percent) do not take on the necessary level of organic microelements necessary for the human body, like iron and vitamin A. For this reason, most children lag behind in growth and development, and also suffer from constant fatigue. As experts note, the main reason is not observance of rules of a healthy food and a way of life.
On 14 August, the committees for health protection of citizens and on science, education, culture and sports of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis hosted a hearing of the head of the Interdepartmental Working Group, First Deputy Minister of Health B. Yusupaliev on problems of maintaining healthy nutrition and healthy lifestyle of the population.
Due to the relevance of this topic, the event was attended by representatives of public authorities and administrations, educational institutions, public organizations responsible for ensuring the rational nutrition and healthy lifestyle of the population.
As it was said, unhealthy diet and lifestyle lead to cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes and other chronic diseases, as well as excessive fatness and anemia. This adversely affects the welfare of the population and the health of the population. Only one of the most widespread diseases - anemia refers to issues requiring special attention. According to the World Health Organization, today more than 1.62 billion (21 percent) of people suffer from iron deficiency anemia.
The country has adopted a number of regulatory documents aimed at ensuring food security and organizing proper nutrition of the population. In particular, the Decrees of the Head of the State "On the Strategy for the Further Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan" from 7 February 2017, "On Measures for Further Ensuring the Food Security of the Country" from 16 January 2018 are legal documents in this field.
Over the past period, in order to ensure the implementation of a set of measures in the area of healthy nutrition of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan, state standards have been developed, in particular, on organizing a full and safe food in pre-school educational institutions. Hygiene requirements for food, milk and dairy products (milk, kaimak, cottage cheese, cheese, sour cream, kefir, sour milk) are introduced in the country’s pre-school. There is a normalization of the safe amount of sugar, salt, saturated additives, which are added to the composition of such ready-made foods.
As the Deputy Minister of Health noted that, despite the measures taken, the problems in the sphere have not been completely eliminated. In order to verify food safety in 2017, sanitary and hygienic laboratory tests were carried out. About 265,332 samples of food products were checked, 9,302 of them do not meet sanitary and hygienic requirements. Only these facts show that there are still a number of shortcomings in the sphere.
At the hearing, it was stressed that in order to prevent the existing problems related to healthy nutrition, a draft plan of measures was developed, including organizational and legal mechanisms for ensuring food security and rational nutrition of the population. It identifies specific actual tasks.
Following the hearing, an appropriate decision was made. It was said that there is need to promote healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition among the population.
For this purpose, a working group has been created from among the deputies of the lower house of parliament, representatives of departments and organizations, which will study the state of affairs in this direction with the visit to the regions.
The results of the critical analysis will be discussed at the sessions of the local Kengashes of People’s Deputies, proposals on eliminating the existing shortcomings will be made.
