Uzbekistan, US to discuss trade-economic relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) will pay a visit to Uzbekistan on 15-16 August 2018, the US Embassy in Uzbekistan said.
The delegation includes Assistant United States Trade Representative (USTR) for South and Central Asia Mark Linscott, Assistant USTR for Trade Policy and Economics Edward Gresser, and Deputy Assistant USTR for South and Central Asia, Zeba Reyazuddin.
The US delegation will discuss with Uzbek government officials the requirements for the continuation of U.S. Generalized System of Preferences trade benefits and Uzbekistan’s process for accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The discussions will include the role of intellectual property rights protections and the elimination of forced labor in meeting the international standards that are necessary to continue the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences trade benefits.
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is the United States government agency responsible for developing and recommending United States trade policy to the President of the United States, conducting trade negotiations at bilateral and multilateral levels, and coordinating trade policy throughout the U.S. government.
