Public Education Minister and the World Bank discuss cooperation issues

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of National Education of Uzbekistan Atabek Nazirov met with a delegation of the World Bank.
This meeting was held within the framework of the execution of the instruction of the President of the Republic on radical improvement of the public education system.
During the meeting, World Bank experts were acquainted with the existing problems of administrative and financial management in the public education system, as well as issues of an integrated solution, such as: lack of transparency in administrative and financial management, budget planning, financial control, logistics, construction -mountain works and equipping schools, as well as the unbalanced load of schools and the fight against corruption.
Following the meeting, the World Bank included the Ministry of Public Education (MNO) in its first pilot project on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, worth US$30 million.
The goal of this project will be to improve the management of public finances, as well as reforms and restructuring in the public education system.
The concept of this project will be developed and submitted to the management of the MNO in the near future. An expert working group will also be established to implement this project with representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank. The project will be launched in January 2019, and its implementation will take roughly 4 years.
