About 25,900 new small enterprises opened in Uzbekistan in Jan-Jun

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-June of 2018, 25,900 new small enterprises and micro-firms (without dehkan farms and farms) were created in Uzbekistan, which is 8.6% more than in the same period of 2017, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The largest number of small enterprises and microfirms was formed in the sphere of trade (23.2%), industry (22.0%), construction (12.7%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (12.4%), living and feeding (7.7%), transportation and storage (3.9%).
In the reporting, the largest number of new small businesses (per 1,000 population) was recorded in Tashkent city (22.5 units), Syrdarya region (17.9 units), Jizzakh region (16.4), Tashkent region (15), Navoi region (13.3), Kashkadarya region (13.2).
The indicator was between 10-13 units in Bukhara, Andijan, Khorezm, Ferghana, Samarkand regions and Karakalpakstan. The low level was recorded in Namangan (9.9) and Surkhandarya regions (9).
The committee said that number of small businesses made up 10.8 units per 1,000 people in January-June 2016, the figure reached 12.4 units in 2017 and 12.8 units in 2018.
In January-June, 2018, the share of small business in GDP was 49.2% (54.3% in January-June 2017). This decrease is due to the increase in the share of large enterprises in the GDP structure.
The largest share of small businesses in the GRP fell to Jizzakh (73.5%), Surkhandarya (72.9%), Bukhara (71.1%) and Namangan (69.6%). In Navoi region this indicator remains low and is equal to 31.2%.
In the regional context, the largest share of small business in industry was registered in Tashkent (68.0%), Namangan (63.7%) and Jizzakh (60.8%) regions, in construction - in Samarkand (98.8%), Jizzakh (98.3%), Andijan (97.5%) and Syrdarya (95.0%) regions.
In the sphere of services, the largest number of small businesses were registered in Samarkand (75.0%), Tashkent (74.5%), Ferghana and Bukhara (74.2%), Surkhandarya (72.9%), Andijan (72.2%).
The small businesses produced industrial goods for 29.23 trillion soums (31.1% of total industrial output of Uzbekistan), which rose by 6.6% year-on-year.
The sector utilized investments worth 16.36 trillion soums (39.7% of the total volume of the republic’s investments), which grew by 23.6% compared to the same period of 2017.
The small businesses carried out construction work for 14.66 trillion soums (67.9% of the total volume of construction work). The growth rate made up 8.6% year-on-year.
This sector rendered services worth 36.75 trillion soums (55.2% of the total volume of services), which is 2.2% less than in the same period of 2017.
About 88.0% of the total volume of retail trade turnover was formed by the sector, which made up 55.253 billion soums (an increase of 2.4%).
The sector exported goods and services for US$2.72 billion (34.9% of total exports), which is 60.1%, more compared by the same period of 2017.
The growth of freight turnover of motor transport by the sector made up 4.3% (79.7% of the total volume of freight turnover) and passenger turnover - 2.6% (95.1% of the total volume of passenger turnover).
In the regional context, the largest volume of industrial production was observed in Tashkent (11.02 trillion soums), Tashkent region (2.73 trillion soums), Samarkand region (2.62 trillion soums) and Andijan region (2.02 trillion soums). In the Republic of Karakalpakstan (576.2 billion soums) and Surkhandarya (528.8 billion soums), the volume of industrial production remains low.
The largest volume of retail trade turnover was recorded in Tashkent (10.36 trillion soums), Tashkent region (5.78 trillion soums), Samarkand region (5.01 trillion soums), Ferghana region (4.99 trillion soums) and Andijan (4.5 trillion soums).
At the same time, the largest volume of services was recorded in Tashkent (10.63 trillion soums), Tashkent region (3.71 trillion soums), Samarkand region (3.35 trillion soums), Ferghana region (3.06 trillion soums) and Andijan region (2.63 trillion soums).
In the second quarter of 2018, a sample survey of the activities of newly established small enterprises and microfirms was carried out by types of economic activity, in which more than 740 respondents took part.
According to the survey, the economic situation is considered favorable by 23.6% and satisfactory - 56.2% of enterprises engaged in construction, in the sphere of trade - 26.3% and 58.3%, services - 26.9% and 53.9% %, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 23.1% and 59.3%, industry - 29.7% and 50.0%.
The number of pessimists regarding the assessment of the current economic situation in industry was 20.3%, construction - 20.2%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 17.6%, services - 19.2%, trade - 15.4% .
About 66.3% of industrial enterprises, 68.6% of trade, 62.1% of services, 79.1% of agriculture, forestry and fisheries and 67.4% of construction are expected to improve the economic situation in the next three months.
