Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The governor of Irkutsk region of Russia Sergei Levchenko proposed a delegation of Uzbekistan to establish direct supplies of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Irkutsk region.
Sergei Levchenko held talks with the delegation of Surkhandarya region led by First Deputy Khokim Tura Bobolov.
The delegation of Uzbekistan stated that now fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan are delivered to Novosibirsk and then the products are purchased by Irkutsk enterprises.
With such a scheme, time is lost, which is of great importance for the delivery of perishable products. Direct contacts with enterprises of Irkutsk region would allow delivering fruits and vegetables faster.
Tura Bobolov noted that the delegation of Uzbekistan arrived in the Irkutsk region to restore ties.
“This year we have a rich harvest of fruits and vegetables. We would like to share it with the Siberian region. We ask your support to work on the issue of deliveries, first of all, onions, and the whole range of fruits and vegetables under direct contracts, including, to the extent possible, social structures,” he said.
“We are interested in developing bilateral trade, as business cannot exist in one direction,” Tura Bobolov said.
Director of the federal state budgetary institution "Irkutsk Interregional Veterinary Laboratory" Boris Samarsky noted the high quality of Uzbek vegetables and fruits. Large agricultural enterprises operate in the republic, where pesticides and pesticides are practically not used, a network of warehouse complexes for storing fresh fruits and vegetables has been created.
For a long time it was not possible to establish direct deliveries due to weak transport and logistics infrastructure, the lack of terminals for storing perishable goods, customs clearance, which took up to three days. Now it is reduced to 24 hours, transport and logistics problems are solved. Direct contracts with local enterprises could significantly speed up the delivery time. Producers are ready to send to our region any volumes - from wagons to several wagons of vegetables and fruits, to carry out customs clearance in Irkutsk.
- Deliveries of fresh and processed agricultural products are of great interest to us. We are ready to cooperate in this area taking into account the observance of phytosanitary and other norms stipulated by the legislation of our states. I think, through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we will be able to invite interested businessmen, so that you can establish direct contacts. We also need to consider the creation of a site for storage and handling of products, Governor Sergei Levchenko said.
To organize the supply of fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan, the Governor instructed Vladimir Dorofeyev to hold a meeting with the participation of specialists from the Irkutsk Customs, the Rosselkhoznadzor of the Ministry of Economic Development of Irkutsk region, the regional ministry of agriculture, and the consumer market service.
Over the past few years, the Republic of Uzbekistan is one of the main trade partners of the Irkutsk region among the CIS countries. In 2017, the foreign trade turnover made up US$79 million, which grew by almost 20% year-on-year.
Uzbekistan supplies to Irkutsk region vegetables and fruits, fruit and berry, canned food, consumer goods. In its turn, Uzbekistan purchases processed timber, paper, cardboard, cellulose, various machines and equipment, products of the chemical industry.
