Uzbekistan launches unemployment insurance system

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An unemployment insurance system will be introduced in Uzbekistan on 1 August 2018.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to improve and improve the efficiency of work to ensure employment of the population”.
According to the document, the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan was ordered to introduce the unemployment insurance system from 1 August 2018 at the expense of the Employment Assistance Fund, which will provide for lump-sum subsidies.
The document notes that unemployed persons registered in employment centers and wishing to start an entrepreneurial activity will receive a subsidy in the amount of 2 minimum sizes of salary to cover the costs of registration as an individual entrepreneur, state registration of small enterprises and microfirms.
The organizations, which employ persons from among the socially vulnerable layers of the population, including persons with disabilities, in excess of the minimum amount set aside (quota), will receive a subsidy at the amount of 2 minimum sizes of salary for each employed person of this category for at least 12 month.
Employers will receive subsidies in the amount of 3 minimum salaries per employee to finance the costs of vocational training and professional development of workers from among the socially vulnerable segments of the population, including persons with disabilities, hired by the employment centers.
