Croatia beat Russia on penalties to set up England semi-final

Tashkent, Uzbekistan ( -- Croatia beat hosts Russia 4-3 on penalties to advance to semifinals of the FIFA World Cup.

Denis Cheryshev opened the score for Russia on 31 minutes, while Andrej Kramaric equalized the score eight minutes later.

Domagoj Vida put Croatia 2-1 ahead from a Luka Modric corner in the first period of extra time but Russia’s Mario Fernandes headed an equaliser with five minutes remaining.

Croatia will play England in the semifinals of the World Cup.
