New Horizons of Uzbek-Malaysian Cooperation in Sphere of Tourism
Leaders of the Association of Travel Companies and Tour Operators of Malaysia (MATTA) and leading travel agencies of the country took part in this event. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia.
During the meeting, the audience was acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, which has a unique color that attracts not only the followers of the Islamic religion, but also representatives of Christianity and Buddhism. The special interest of the tour companies of the country is caused to the growing prospect of cooperation with Uzbekistan in the sphere of religious, gastronomic, environmental, event, winter and transit tourism.
The Malaysian tour operators underlined the scale of the tourism reforms in Uzbekistan, which are reflected in the abolition of the visa regime for Malaysian citizens, the improvement of the banking system, the introduction of the new terminal of the International Airport in Tashkent for arriving passengers with broad infrastructure capabilities at the crossing of border and customs services, including the "Green Corridor", as well as the conditions for washing and performing prayer, etc.
Attention was attracted by pilot projects implemented this year on the route Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Tel-Aviv with a 2-day stay in Uzbekistan for pilgrims going to the mosque of Al-Aqsa (Palestine), and also in the direction of Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Moscow - St. Petersburg - Bukhara with a 3-day stay in Uzbekistan. In this context, it was noted that there are ample opportunities with the planned opening of direct flights between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia, which will allow the development of a Umrah Plus tour package along the Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Jeddah route for Malaysian pilgrims with a 5-day stay in Uzbekistan.
During the "exchange of views" session, the Malaysian side shared its best practices on attracting foreign tourists to the country. In particular, it was underlined the need for further broad promotion of the Republic’s tourism potential in Malaysia through the implementation of targeted large-scale advertising campaigns.
At the same time, it is recommended to solve the problem of excessive congestion of the existing tourist infrastructure of the country in the "high season", as well as improve the transport system by creating more comfortable conditions for travel of foreign tourists through the territory of Uzbekistan, actively introduce electronic platforms for on-line payment for hotel, intercity transport and other services through mobile on-line services.
