Uzbekistan and Belarus intend to develop trade and economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Nigmatlya Yuldashev, visited Belarus last week.
During the meeting, the delegation of Uzbekistan was received by the Chairman of the Council of the Belarus, Mikhail Myasnikovich.
During the talks, the representatives of Uzbekistan expressed interest in developing cooperation with Belarus in the pharmaceutical industry.
Myasnikovich noted that Uzbekistan and Belarus signed a road map, within which the parties intend to create joint ventures in the field of medicine production. According to him, the company "Nativita" is active in this direction, BELTA reported.
The parliamentarians said that the significant advancement of bilateral cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies. The Belarusian company is already working in Uzbekistan to introduce an automated system for paying for public transport.
Belarus offers Uzbekistan to intensify cooperation at the regional level, Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
He also touched upon the issues of improving the legal framework of bilateral relations. In his opinion, the work with regard to its expansion should be intensified. At the moment, the sides are preparing about 11 draft agreements, including on socio-economic, scientific and technical cooperation, tourism.
During the talks the parliamentarians discussed the prospects for trade and economic investment cooperation and industrial cooperation.
The issues of joint production of tractor, agricultural, road-building equipment were touched upon. Separately, the work of BelAZ, the holding company of BelAZ Holding, in the Uzbek market was discussed.
Belarus and Uzbekistan intend to develop cooperation in the confectionery industry. A licensed production confectionery goods will be launched in Uzbekistan soon. From the Belarusian side, the confectionery factory "Kommunarka" takes part in the project.
In addition, Belarus expects an increase in the supply of sugar to the Uzbek market. During the meeting, prospects for production cooperation were discussed. Belarus, as Mikhail Myasnikovich said, is ready to create service centers and assembly plants in Uzbekistan. The development of interaction in agriculture, in the sphere of education, IT-technologies, and culture was discussed.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev stressed that the countries have to dramatically increase and diversify trade. "We are interested in developing investment cooperation in the fields of agriculture, textile and food industry, pharmaceuticals, engineering," he said.
Yuldashev believes that countries need to intensify cooperation in the field of transport and tourism.
A memorandum on cooperation between the Council of the Republic of Belarus and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was signed during the visit to Minsk.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev emphasized that the parliaments of the two countries agreed to strengthen coordination in international and regional interparliamentary organizations, interaction in other areas of mutual interest.
