Huawei and Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan sign memorandum of understanding

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Huawei Tech Investment Tashkent (Huawei) and the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding, aimed at cooperation in the field of smart and highly technological solutions. The document was signed at the company headquarters in Shenzhen.

This memorandum envisages development of comprehensive relationship between the ministry and the company, aimed at introducing innovative solutions and technologies to the telecommunications industry and other priority industries of Uzbekistan.

Within the document, Huawei will provide its experts to increase the research potential of the ministry, jointly develop the concept of technology parks and innovation centers, introduce advanced technologies in the process of building smart city systems, and improve the life of the population through services and solutions, based on the ICT platform.

"For us, this is a great responsibility and a sign of high confidence from the state of Uzbekistan. Huawei has been operating for 18 years in Uzbekistan, in the field of telecommunications and ICT solutions. To date, the country has been undertaking major reforms to improve the quality of life of the people and increase the responsibility of state bodies to the public. The signing of this document this year is a landmark, as the country’s leader declared 2018 the year of innovative and technological development in the country. Huawei with all its capabilities will contribute to the innovative development of the state and society of Uzbekistan. We want the cities to be smart and developed," Huawei’s CEO in Uzbekistan, Mr. Wang Peng commented.

In turn, it should be noted that the Ministry for Innovative Development will open high technology centers and laboratories in each region of the country, and one of them will be created in the near future with the assistance of Huawei.

"For several years Huawei has proved its adherence to the political and economic reforms of Uzbekistan conducted by the country’s leadership. To date, very much attention is being paid to innovative technologies and there are great demands on government agencies to introduce new technologies to increase efficiency and save resources. We hope that the application of Huawei’s global experience will be timely, and by joint efforts we will be able to achieve high performance and bring Uzbekistan to a new level of technological progress," Bakhtiyor Umarov, First Deputy Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, said.
