Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan will introduce a pilot project on replacement of passports to ID-cards in Tashkent from 1 November 2018.
The President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution “On organizational measures for accelerated integration of departmental information systems and implementation of innovative projects”.
The resolution said that instead of the existing system of passports, birth certificates and other identity documents (inside the republic), with the exception of the driver’s license, an ID card system will be introduced.
ID-cards will contain a single identification number for each citizen, his personal data and used to identify the identity, when receiving government services.
The resolution said that proposals for financing the project will be made before 1 July 2018. Prior to 1 August, a feasibility study of the project will be prepared.
At the same time, the project will be launched in pilot mode in Tashkent at the expense of extrabudgetary funds until 1 November 2018.
