Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A regular meeting of subcommittee "Uzbekistan - European Union" on justice, internal affairs, human rights was held in Tashkent. Within the framework of the meeting, a round of the Dialogue on Human Rights was held as well.
Representatives of Uzbekistan and the EU discussed the current state of cooperation and tasks for the future in the field of combating terrorism, border security and other issues.
The European side highly appreciated the process of reforming all spheres in Uzbekistan in accordance with the Strategy of Action, and called these reforms breakthrough for the country. In addition, EU representatives welcomed the measures taken to maintain peace and security in the region, the completion of the processes of delimitation and demarcation of borders with neighboring countries, a significant improvement and development at the initiative of Uzbekistan good-neighborly mutually beneficial relations.
Measures to ensure human rights, including the adoption of the first act of the President on clemency, and measures to accept over 1,000 people for the citizenship of Uzbekistan were discussed.
