Delegation of Uzbekistan holds a series of negotiations in the US

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbaeva visits the United States to participate in the 62nd session of the UN Committee on the Status of Women. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
The delegation held a meeting with representatives of the Department of Labor. The sides discussed issues of strengthening constructive Uzbek-American cooperation and interaction of Uzbekista nwith specialized international structures in the field of improving the provision of labor rights in Uzbekistan.
Director of the Office for Child and Forced Labor and Human Trafficking of the US Department of Labor’s International Labor Office, Marcia Eugenio noted "tangible progress" in the elimination of child and forced labor in Uzbekistan in 2017. She highly appreciated the transparency of the decisive steps taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to eradicate forced labor.
During the meeting with the Director of the International Labor Organization’s Washington office, Kevin Cassidy, a thorough exchange of views took place on the prospects for international cooperation in raising standards for the protection of workers’ rights.
Kevin Cassidy welcomed the intensification and expansion of interaction and close coordination of efforts with international non-governmental organizations. This, he said, makes it possible to demonstrate the openness of the Government of Uzbekistan to international cooperation on sensitive human rights issues.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached to organize the visit of Kevin Cassidy to Uzbekistan in 2018 and his participation in the round table, organized by the ILO in cooperation with the World Bank in November 2018.
