IMF delegation holds talks at Ministry of Foreign Trade

Tashkent, Uzbekistan ( -- Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, during the meeting, the representatives of the Ministry informed the IMF delegation about the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan on further liberalization and diversification of the economy, and introduced the work on improving the institutions of financial and non-financial support for exports and establishing organizations such as Export Insurance Fund, Export Support Center and the Institute of Export and Logistics.

It is expected that these innovations will help create good opportunities and conditions for local enterprises in the process of involving them in international trade.

It was separately underlined that the ministry together with the profile organizations is working to create an electronic trading platform, which will help simplify interaction between buyers and sellers in the conduct of international trade operations.

The IMF delegation highly appreciated the large-scale work in Uzbekistan to implement a phased policy of simplifying conditions regulating foreign economic activity, as well as creating equal conditions for both domestic and foreign business.

Within the framework of the meeting, the increased volumes of exports with the main trading partners of the country following the results of 2017 and a significant decrease in the share of the volume of commodity exports in favor of products with high added value were noted.
