Retail trade in Uzbekistan increases by 0.8% in January

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The turnover of retail trade of Uzbekistan increased by 0.8% compared to the same period of 2017 and reached about 8.36 trillion soums.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the share of turnover of large enterprises was 13.3%. The increase in demand for goods such as consumer goods, tobacco products, gasoline and alcoholic beverages led to growth of production by large enterprises by 19.6% compared to the previous year.
The positive impact on retail sales increase sponge regions with high turnover fractions such as Tashkent city (22.2%), Tashkent (10.0%), Ferghana (8.6%), Samarkand (8.3%) and Andijan (8.1%) regions.
Retail turnover, including turnover of food enterprises, per capita decreased by 0.9%, and amounted to 258,100 soums (in January 2017 – 211,800 soums).
The highest per capita turnover was noted in city of Tashkent (760,400 soums), Navoi (332,300 soums) and Tashkent (294,000 soums) regions.
The retail turnover of food enterprises amounted to 178.0 billion soums or increased by 5.5%. The share of turnover of food enterprises in total volume of retail trade turnover was 2.1%.
Retail trade turnover of small business decreased by 1.6% compared to the same period of last year.
The share of sales in total turnover of retail trade was 86.7%.
Out of the total volume of small business turnover, the sale of goods in unorganized trade amounted to 948.2 billion soums. The share of this sector in the total volume of trade amounted to 11.3%.
The highest share of sales in total retail trade turnover was observed in Jizzakh region - 93.9%, 92.6% in Kashkadarya, 92.5% in Surkhandarya, 92.4% in Syrdarya regions and the lowest proportion - 74.3% in Tashkent city, 78.6% in Khorezm region and other regions.
