Uzbek-Ukrainian trade reaches US$1.99bn in Jan-Sep 2008

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Ukraine comprised US$1.99 billion in nine months of 2008 or up 281.4% year-on-year, according to the date of Ukraine’s State Statistics Committee.
According to the statistics, Ukraine exports to Uzbekistan increased 66.4% year-on-year to US$413.4 million in the reporting period. Uzbekistan exported to Ukraine goods and services for US$1.584 billion (up 343% year-on-year).
Ukraine exported to Uzbekistan mainly ferrous metals and products from them - US$218.5 million (52.8% from total volume), machinery and equipment - US$111.3 million (26.9%), pharmaceuticals - US$18.3 million (4.4%), plastic, polymeric materials, rubber, other chemical products - US$8.8 million (2.2%), agriculture products, including grain and flour industry’s goods - US$5.5 million (1.3%), sunflower oil and fats - US$3.4 million (0.8%) and live animals - US$2.2 million (0.5%).
At the same time, Uzbekistan exported to Ukraine energy resources (natural gas and oil products) - US$1.392 billion (87.9% of total import volume), vehicles - US$99.9 million (6.3%) plastic and polymeric materials - US$36.3 million (2.3%), fertilizers - US$28.97 million (1.8%), cotton (fabrics) - US$9.5 million (0.6%), zinc and products from zinc - US$6.1 million (0.4%).
About 26 joint ventures with the participation of Uzbek capital work in Ukraine and 50 enterprises with Ukrainian investments operate in Uzbekistan, of which three with 100% Ukrainian investments. About 12 companies of Ukraine accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan.
