Uzbekistan develops draft law “On external labor migration”
The law will apply to citizens of Uzbekistan who work abroad, as well as individuals and legal entities of all forms of property involved in the processes of external labor migration.
According to the document, the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Labor and the structural units of the Agency, as well as recruiting organizations, will be engaged in the employment of Uzbek citizens abroad.
They will carry out an organized selection of the Uzbek citizens, who expressed desire to work abroad, at the request of foreign economic entities. The basis for sending citizens to work abroad will be employment contracts concluded by the sending organization with a foreign employer and a citizen of Uzbekistan intending to leave for work.
The citizens can also go to work abroad individually without an organized selection of candidates. But individuals should notify about the employment the Agency and submit necessary document.
The document also establishes the basic duties of the migrant.
The Agency will create a foundation to provide legal, social and material support to migrant workers. Its main tasks will be to assist in the employment of citizens of Uzbekistan abroad and on their return to home.
