Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Georgia held political consultations in Tbilisi on 14-15 November 2017
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the delegations of the two countries exchanged views on the key issues of the Uzbek-Georgian agenda, the priorities for further development of interstate cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
The parties stressed that the meeting of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Georgia Georgy Kvirikashvili in September 2017 in New York became an important stage in bilateral relations, defined promising directions for deepening cooperation.
The Georgian side was informed about the main provisions of the program speeches of the President of Uzbekistan at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly and on 10 November in Samarkand at the opening of the international conference "Central Asia: One Past and a Common Future, Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Mutual Prosperity".
It was noted that the initiatives put forward by the Uzbek President create a reliable foundation for expanding Uzbek-Georgian relations, giving them a multifaceted character, and activating the activities of joint cooperation mechanisms. In this context, proposals on the timing and agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Relations were considered.
The meeting also discussed some international and regional issues.
