Tashkent hosts the Uzbek-Tajik business forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Tajik business forum was held in Tashkent on 11 October. The forum was held within the framework of the Days of Culture of Tajikistan in Uzbekistan.
About 500 representatives of large enterprises and companies from various regions of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan participated in the forum.
During the business forum, the parties discussed issues of developing trade and economic relations and implementation of the joint projects.
Over 20 contracts and 6 memorandums were signed within the framework of the business forum, including the Agreement on establishment of the Business Council between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov noted that the Business Council will enable entrepreneurs of the two countries, in particular small and medium-sized businesses, as well as large enterprises, to effectively develop bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
In 2016, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan made up US$197 million and US$178.2 million in January-September 2017.
Some 24 enterprises with the participation of Tajik capital operate in Uzbekistan, including 1 with 100% Tajik capital. In turn, 9 enterprises with the participation of investments with Uzbek capital work in Tajikistan.
