IMF keeps its forecast for Uzbekistan’s economic growth for 2017 and 2018

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) kept its forecast for the growth of Uzbekistan’s GDP in 2017 and 2018 at 6% annually. This was stated in the October report of the World Economic Outlook of the IMF.
The IMF report notes that Uzbekistan’s inflation will grow from 8% in 2016 to 13% in 2017. The growth of inflation in 2018 will be 12.7%, the IMF said.
Experts of IMF forecasted that the current account balance of Uzbekistan in 2017 will be 0.9% of GDP against 1.4% in 2016. This figure will make up 0.3% in 2018, the IMF report said.
The IMF in its report emphasizes that Uzbekistan can experience inflationary pressures in connection with the currency reforms.
