Uzbekistan and Russia hold consultations on security issues

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Russia held consultations on security issues on 20 September in Tashkent.
Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Patrushev and Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies, special services and apparatus of the security councils of Uzbekistan and Russia took part in consultations.
The sides discussed cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in the sphere of security and migration.
The delegations of Uzbekistan and Russia also examined the situation in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
The sides reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen military-technical cooperation and noted importance of intensifying cooperation through special services, further expanding cooperation both in bilateral format and within the framework of the UN, the SCO and the CIS.
Within the framework of the visit, the Russian delegation will visit Samarkand to get acquainted with its historical and cultural sights, as well as to pay homage and lay a wreath to the burial place of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
