Six tonnes of pilaf cooked in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A record 6 tonnes of pilaf were cooked in Almalyk city of Tashkent region on 17 August on initiative of the Milliy television channel.
The pilaf was cooked in a bowl with a diameter of 4.2 meters and a volume of almost 8,000 liters, specially cast for this event at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. Total weight of kazan was 7070 kg, the depth is 1 meter. About 4.5 kg of cumin, 165 kg of barberry, 90 kg of peas and 3 kg of black pepper were also used in cooking pilaf.
After the pilaf was cooked, it was shared among 22,000 inhabitants of Almalyk.
It should be noted that about 150 people were attracted to organization, cooking and distribution of pilaf.
According to Milliy, this event was a rehearsal for cooking the world’s largest pilaf. The official attempt to set a world record and make it into the Guinness Book of Records will be held on 8 September within the framework of the Festival of Traditional Culture “Uzbegim”, which will be held in honor of the first anniversary of the founding of the Milliy channel.
